Shannahan has signed on for another season, Lundqvist is in for one more. Avery and Hossa are still out there and there is still that HUGE hole on defense. I'd give Avery and Hossa to get a solid, strong, stay at home defenseman. In my eyes the defense, or lack of, was the biggest problem the Rangers had last season. You can argue that the kids are more experienced now, bigger strong, but they still need a leader back there.

You think souray is the guy? I don't know, don't think he's what we need. he's an offensive minded guy. It'd be an awful lot of money to pay for a guy who's a -27 for his career.
I don't we can get souray if we sign avery and hossa. I think there's only about 3 million left on the cap.
Glad that fans like you & I are thinking the same things. Going into this season, we have some of strongest offensive lines in the division -- but rival division teams are going to hit our 'D' and pound Henrik.
Though, young'ens like Dan Girardi stepped up during the playoffs and impressed the hell out of me -- and the mix of Strudwick, Mara, Rosival, etc. You never know. They surprised everyone last season.

I am happy we did not pick up Souray. I do not think he would have been a good fit and his salary would not allow them to do much else. We need at least one serious defenseman who's only concern is protecting the net and Henrik.
